That Deathside skill freeze sounds frustrating! It doesn't seem normal to be stuck that long. Maybe try a different map or restarting? Reminds me of getting stuck on a ramp in Snow Rider 3D! As for the build, I'm not familiar enough with that class, but hopefully someone with more expertise can help optimize your skills, point distribution, and gear for early, mid, and endgame.
